General Manager

 

OVERVIEW

Utilizing your leadership and communication skills, the General Manager is responsible for all aspects of building operations, including Customer Relationship Support, Operational Production and P&L Financial Performance. General Managers are expected to lead-by-example and have an in-depth understanding of how to analyze business processes to identify inefficiencies. The General Manager then needs to be able to work through his resources to implement change, creating a continuous process improvement environment with customer and profit goals at its roots. All of this is accomplished while maintaining a safe and respectful working environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including, but not limited to, the following.

The General Manager is accountable for all operations of an approx. 500,000 sq. ft. building specializing in 3PL functions including the following:

  • Customer and staff communication
  • Directly manage a large staff to ensure daily goals and deadlines are met
  • Engineered standards to drive continuous improvement
  • Goal and timeline setting
  • Safety and compliance to policies
  • Inbound and outbound container management
  • Inventory control
  • Value added services
  • Accurate order fulfillment
  • Material flow planning
  • Customer P&L analysis
  • KPI reporting
  • Wage and hour compliance
  • Training and development
  • Affect the terms and conditions of employment such as hiring, scheduling, firing, performance evaluations, pay recommendations, etc. while partnering with Human Resources Department.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director/Executives.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in multi-account management, working for clients with competing demands of labor and expertise.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with customers in order to understand their needs and evaluate paths to success or any gaps in performance expectations
  • Experience in big box shipping compliance requirements expected
  • Must be able to supervise multiple Operations Managers and Supervisors in support of hundreds of employees
  • Ability to monitor and analyze KPI’s to drive productivity
  • Need to be able to monitor staffing levels to ensure productivity is efficient daily, anticipating changes in the work load to be able to flex up or down as demand changes
  • Must possess an eye for details in order to ensure accurate, quality work from your staff
  • Ability to motivate staff to generate quality work product under strict deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal skills required
  • Problem solving using root cause analysis expected
  • Initiative to always explore better ways to work safer, more accurately and quicker is expected
  • Integrity is key in all interactions with your staff and customers
  • Five years minimum Warehouse Management System experience required
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite expected
  • Experience with Manhattan is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics or similar field preferred
